Natalia Bezerra is a Landscape Artist and Designer working primarily in drawing, sculpture, design, and site-specific installation. She is originally from the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area and is currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland where she has completed her master’s degree.
Rising concerns on the global ecological crisis in a time of increasing socio-political complexity forms the basis of Natalia’s practice-led research. Her practice, which resides at the intersection of art, landscape design, and social engagement, seeks to establish a dialogue between our actions and the natural environment. Additionally, her work seeks to increase the connection between people and their sense of place in our rapidly changing world. Critically responding to issues centered on the perceived nature-culture divide are integral to her practice.
This investigation informs her design process for landscape-based works that increase a sense of renewal and belonging to the natural world. This element of her practice seeks to inspire wonder, imagination, and hope for a more environmentally engaged and conscious world.
Natalia holds a Master of Fine Art (MFA) in Art, Space, and Nature from the Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
